Alice in Wonderland Jr Backstage Crew
Thank you to the 50 OMS students who attended the auditions yesterday. You are members of the largest audition group since 2016. Participants rotated through three stations demonstrating skills practiced in backstage crew during every performance season. Participants were respectful and willing to practice their collaboration ability while setting up a prop table, dressing a team member in the costume, and taping a set perimeter, striving the meet the requirements for each station. During the audition process, students signed their name for the crew and day of the week they were auditioning for. I appreciate each participant’s willingness to work with others they just met and patiently wait their turn. We had 5 stations set up and 7/8 small groups rotating through. Again, thank you to each student for attending the backstage crew auditions.
Backstage crew has two subparts: create and stage & create. “Create” is the crew that builds, paints, designs set pieces that will be used on stage. The stage component requires crew members to attend daily rehearsals the two weeks prior and including performances. The stage subpart members will move set pieces backstage and onstage during performances. Both crew groups work on their assigned day (Tuesday or Thursday) from 3:30-5:00. We will begin after school workdays Tuesday September 3rd.
Costumes: This group will not begin working with Ms. Clark prior to the third week of October. More details will be provided as that date draws closer.
