Honors Courses
At Oakland Middle School, we offer Honors courses to students who demonstrate high achievement levels in individual content areas. This allows teachers to provide more rigor in the classroom, often at a quicker pace for these students. We offer two sections of Honors courses in each core content area which allows approximately 50 students to enroll in each content area. To qualify for an Honors course, students typically need to score in the 90th percentile or higher in that content area on the TNReady assessment. OMS offers the following Honors courses:
6th Grade - Math Honors, ELA Honors, Science Honors, Social Studies Honors
7th Grade - **Accelerated Math, ELA Honors, Science Honors, and Social Studies Honors
8th Grade - Math Honors, ELA Honors, Science Honors, and Social Studies Honors
**Requirements for 7th grade Accelerated Math - 6th Grade Math TNReady score > 91.
