The Apparel Design competition allows each club to submit one club-designed piece of apparel depicting the 2022 - 2023 Theme: Power of Beta. This competition is designed to encourage creativity, innovation, interpretation of theme, and artistic design. A club may only have one entry. Entries may be any form of apparel but may not be an accessory (i.e., handbags, ties, hats, belts, etc.) The apparel must be student designed. Computer aided drawings are acceptable. Apparel must have marketing potential to be commercially reproduced.

The Book Battle competition is a literature-driven, online multiple choice test based on the books listed. This competition provides an opportunity for a group of three students to use an integrated study of novels to collaborate as they participate in this competition. Students will have 45 minutes to complete the test.

Club Trading Pin is a fun and innovative way to represent your club’s achievement, character, and leadership. Likewise, the Club Trading Pin can uniquely share more about your club and it’s service. This competition is open to all clubs. Be creative and submit your one-of-a-kind Club Trading Pin for judging. Plaques will be awarded to the top Club Trading Pin entries.

The Creative Writing competition provides an opportunity for a student to use creative details through written expression as he/she interprets the prompt. The completed piece must be at least 200 words, but no more than 500 words and must completed within 90 minutes. A club may have only one entry.

The Engineering competition is designed for a team of three to five students to use innovative problem solving techniques and engineering concepts. Teams will be given forty-five (45) minutes to construct and ninety (90) seconds to demonstrate and explain the project. The invention must be constructed on a piece of foam board 30 inches by 40 inches. This piece of foam board will be separate from the materials container. The invention may have parts that suspend beyond the board, but cannot be braced/tethered/supported by anything (i.e. wall or floor) other than the board. The team must use items from the specified list and materials must fit into a closed 10 gallon plastic storage container with a lid. All construction must be done on-site. No steps can be preassembled, construction pieces must be separate and the board must be free of any writing or marks. Electricity will not be available. A club may have only one entry.

 

Musicology is a general knowledge music competition that uses questions and videos that cover various aspects and genres of music. The competition is designed for a team of four students to participate and stresses collaboration and quick recall.The top eight teams will advance to the oral rounds. 
 
The Onsite Art competition provides students the opportunity to showcase artistic talents and creative abilities. Students will bring their own materials and create drawings/paintings. This competition is designed to encourage creativity, innovation, and reward artistic talent. A club may have only one entry for Onsite Drawing and only one entry for Onsite Painting. Time Limit: 90 Minutes
 
Drawing Guidelines: No materials will be provided. The artist is responsible for drawing instruments and the choice of drawing surface (for example - canvas, paper, wood). Size is not to exceed 16” x 20”. Drawing surface must be clean and clear, as well as initialed by the coordinator prior to beginning the work. Drawings will be judged holistically by a panel of judges.
 
Painting Guidelines: No materials will be provided. The artist is responsible for paint, paintbrushes and the choice of painting (for example - canvas, paper, wood). Size is not to exceed 16” x 20”. Painting surface must be clean and clear, as well as initialed by the coordinator prior to beginning the work. Paintings will be judged holistically by a panel of judges.

PERFORMING ARTS - SOLO, DUO, TRIO (three or fewer participants) - This competition includes the following categories: Vocalists, Dancers, Instrumentalists, or Variety Acts. The performance has a maximum time limit of 2 minutes. Performers will have a total time limit of 4 minutes, which includes set up and take down. Stage is not accessible to any school group except during performance time. Each club may enter only one category, such as Vocalists, Dancers, Instrumentalists, or Variety Acts.

 

PERFORMING ARTS - SMALL GROUP (four to twelve participants) or PERFORMING ARTS - LARGE GROUP (thirteen plus participants) - The performance has a maximum time limit of 4 minutes. Performers will have a total time limit of 8 minutes, which includes set up and take down. Stage is not accessible to any school group except during performance time. Each club may enter only Performing Arts - Small Group or Performing Arts - Large Group. A club may not enter both, however, a club may participate in Solo, Duo, Trio and Group.

The Poetry competition provides an opportunity for a student to use creative details and poetic devices through written expression as he/she interprets the that will be given at the beginning of the competition. A club may have only one entry. Time Limit: 60 Minutes

Quiz Bowl is a general knowledge competition which stresses quick recall. The competition is designed for a team of four students to participate in a collaborative effort in various levels of difficulty that range from trivial to highly technical information. For the online multiple choice test, teams will be given one hour to work collaboratively. A link to the test will be sent to registered club sponsors. A club may have only one entry. The top eight teams will advance to the oral rounds.
 
 
The Beta Spelling Bee is a competition designed for one student from a club to compete in by completing a 30-minute, online multiple choice spelling test. The Top 8 individuals will advance to the oral rounds. The online test, as well as the oral rounds, will require the student to spell a broad selection of words, usually with a varying degree of difficulty.
 
The Visual Arts competition provides students the opportunity to showcase their artistic talents and creative abilities. Each club may enter one entry in each category. This competition is designed to encourage creativity, innovation, reward outstanding craftsmanship, and reinforce the importance of fine arts. This can include any of the following categories: Black & White Photography, Color Photography, Digital Art, Drawing, Fiber Arts, Hand-drawn Anime, Jewelry, Mixed Media - more than one medium used, Painting, Pottery, Quilling - paper or metal, Recyclable Art, Sculpture, Woodworking

The Two Dimensional Design competition allows each club to submit one free standing design that depicts the 2022 - 2023 Theme: Power of Beta This competition is designed to encourage creativity, innovation, interpretation of theme, and artistic craftsmanship. A club may only have one entry. The free - standing design is to measure no larger than 24” W x 36” L. These measurements are to include any type of border or fringe. The design must be free flowing and two dimensional in design. The depth of the design, lettering, etc. on the material must not exceed 1/4 of an inch.

The Three Dimensional Design competition depicts the 2022-2023 Theme: Power of Beta. This competition is designed to encourage creativity and innovation, interpretation of theme, and artistic craftsmanship. A club may have only one entry. The project is to measure no larger than 24”x 24”x24”.
