Unit 4: How do things inside our bodies work together to make us feel the way we do?

Week of 1/12 to 1/16
 
Monday/Tuesday 
Focus Question- What happens to the different substances in food as it travels through the digestive system?
Students will track food molecules (using graphs) through the organs of the digestive system. Students will also use evidence to eliminate certain diseases to determine why M'Kenna's digestive system is different.
Wednesday: 
Focus Question- What does the surface of M'Kenna's small intestine look like up close compared with a healthy one? 
Students will examine micrographs of healthy small intestine tissue along with an interactive simulation to answer our focus question.
Thursday/Friday:
Focus Question- How can a problem in one system cause problems in other systems? Why is M'Kenna losing so much weight?
Students will analyze trends in M'Kenna's weight and look at images of weight loss over time. They will also read an article of the topic as well.
 
 
Helpful Information:
*Attendance is important. If students miss a "block" day, it is like missing two days in science. HOWEVER, if they are running a fever or vomiting, please keep them home. 
*Grades can be checked through Skyward.
*Student resources will be posted on Clever.
