Benefits of Physical Education

Benefits of Physical Education incorporates health and physical education.  This class is taught in a portable.  Some of the units studied include FITT Principle, muscles, bones, target & resting heart rates, alcohol abuse, importance of stretching, skill & health-related activities.  The students will create a game/activity and demonstrate to class.  They will also build a two-week fitness program related to their selected sport.  When weather permits, we will go outside for activities.
 
GRADING
Students must participate in class with activity and assignments.  There will be 4 grades given throughout the 9 weeks.  If students participate, work hard, and demonstrate appropriate behavior, then extra credit will be awarded toward their final grade.

         * Group Project
 
CELL PHONES
Students are permitted to bring phones to class.  However, they are only allowed to use them for research when teacher gives permission.  I also will allow students to use their phones after tests.  Students are not allowed to have phones out playing games, snap chatting, texting, etc or a STEP will be given to the student.
 
TENPENNY'S CLASS EXPECTATIONS
1. No cell phones
2. Do not be out of seat unless instructed
3. No leaning back in chairs
4. Respect is a must with peers and teachers
5. Always come prepared with pencil and paper
6. Always bring me your cinnamon jolly ranchers :)

My name is Marilyn Tenpenny.  I have been teaching physical education for 17 years.  I begin teaching in Cannon County schools, before moving to Murfreesboro City Schools (John PIttard Elementary) 10 years ago.  I am married to Lee Tenpenny and we have two children Emma Rhea and Elliott.  I enjoy tennis, golf, shopping, MTSU athletics, and spending time with my family and friends.
