Objectives:
The Participant will...
  • experience an interactive intro to Nearpod session as a student.
  • create a Nearpod account using Office 365 Single Sign On.
  • create a new lesson and upload a picture file or PP.
  • launch their lesson with a partner and practice presenting a Nearpod.
  • search the library and add a Free lesson that they can use in the upcoming weeks.
 
Success Criteria:
I will know I am successful when I have...
  • created a Nearpod account (Office 365 SSO).
  • Created or added a lesson to my library.
  • launched a lesson with a partner.
  • accessed the data after my lesson is complete.
 
Why Nearpod?
 
Nearpod is an amazing tool that is available on any web-enabled device.  It is a slide presentation on steriods that YOU, the teacher, control.  With the capability to formatively assess your students, move through your lesson, and track student participation, Nearpod is a must have in any classroom!

Nearpod Agenda

 

 

Task 1: Nearpod Student View

Participants will interact with a NearPod as a student.

 

Task 2: Nearpod Reports

·         Participants will review the report generated from the bell work session.

Evaluate how instructional decisions can be made using the information provided in the report.

 

Task 3: Create Teacher Account- Login with Office 365

And Create a Lesson

·         Participants will now sign in to a Nearpod account using the Office 365 Single Sign-On option.

·         Briefly explore the 5 tabs.

·         Click on the “My Library” tab to browse the area that will hold your creations.

·         Create your own lesson by uploading a pdf, picture file, or Power Point (make it short to     share with partner).

*Teachers can use Nearpod for exit tickets, quick assessment, etc. They can use an iReady practice sheet, any picture, etc.

 

 

Task 4: Practice Launch Lesson with Partner

·         With a partner, determine who will be the student and who will be the teacher.

·         The teacher will give the student the join code and practice the lesson

·         Review the reports as a team

If time allows, let the partner who was the student share their lesson as the teacher.

 

 

Task 5: Explore

·         The next step is going to “Explore” at the top left of the page and find a lesson that you could use in your classroom in the upcoming weeks.

·         Remember that not everything is free.

·         Lessons can be copied and modified

 

 

Task 6: Share with PLC

·         Review the sharing options.  This is a great way to share with PLC team members
