About Oakland Middle School
 
Oakland´╗┐ Middle School is located at 853 DeJarnette Lane in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.  OMS serves as one of the nine 6-8 middle schools within the Rutherford County School District.  Rutherford County Schools consistently ranks among the best school districts in Tennessee and has outpaced national rankings on a number of measures. Rutherford County is one of the fastest growing school districts in Tennessee and the fifth largest behind those in Memphis, Nashville, Knoxville and Chattanooga.
 
The doors of Oakland Middle were opened in 2010-2011 and accepted students from feeder schools Kittrell Elementary, Lascassas Elementary, and Central Middle School (Currently Central Magnet).  Oakland Middle also accepts zoned students from the Murfreesboro City Schools such as John Pittard Elementary.  Currently in our 7th year, OMS prides itself in its development of an all inclusive, rigorous, academic program which provides all students with the necessary skills to achieve individual student success.
