Welcome to the Oakland Middle School website. Opening in August of 2010, Oakland Middle School serves approximately 1000 students in grades 6-8. Our students are offered an extensive number of curricular and extra-curricular programs creating countless opportunities. In addition, Oakland Middle School offers the unique opportunity for students to earn high school credit for Career and Technical courses during their 8th grade year.

Due to the emphasis placed on education, Rutherford County is a wonderful place to teach and learn. A great contributor to Oakland Middle School’s greatness is the strong support from our community stakeholders, which include local business owners, parents, school personnel, district administration, and the Rutherford County Board of Education. This collaborative effort is critical to our success. Developing our youth is a team effort; therefore, the Oakland Middle faculty and staff work diligently to develop our students’ qualities of scholarship, character, citizenship, and service.

As you browse the pages of this website, you will notice the wealth of opportunities offered to our students. I encourage students to take advantage of the possibilities and become involved in the extracurricular activities that interest them. When students become involved in sports, music, drama, and school sponsored clubs, scholastic achievement often improves. Participation in school activities teaches our students to budget their time and provides them with an opportunity to interact with school aged peers with similar values and goals in a structured, supervised setting.
